Insurance for Rally Vehicles and Competitors

Medevac Insurance

1.  As per the regulations for the Raid de Himalaya 2008, it states clearly that competitors will require:

a) to take out a Personal Accident Policy, with hospitalisation benefits, under heavy risk, specifically for a motorsport rally, for a minimum value of Rs. 2,00,000/- ( Rupees Two Lakhs ) per person. Rates vary from company to company and are in the region of Rs.300/- to Rs. 3000/- per lac insured.

b) to optionally take out a Medevac Insurance Policy that will cover the competitor for medical evacuation by land or air ambulance as the case may be. Depending on the type of evacuation covered, this can vary from Rs. 4000/- to Rs. 35,000/- per head.

Only those participants who have Air Ambulance Medevac Insurance will be evacuated by aircraft or helicopter. Others will be evacuated incase of emergency by land.

A Rally Insurance for vehicles is compulsory. Competitors will also find it mandatory to have their vehicles insured specifically for the purpose of the Raid de Himalaya 2008. This is for the vehicle being used for the Raid X-Treme as the normal comprehensive/ Third Party insurances will not be valid.
